Stonington is a town in Hancock County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,152 at the 2000 census. Stonington, which includes the villages of Oceanville and West Stonington, is a picturesque old seaport and tourist destination on Penobscot Bay. It is the terminus for mailboat ferry service to the island town of Isle au Haut.
