Miami University (MU) is a coeducational public university located in Oxford, Ohio, United States. Founded in 1809, it is the 10th oldest public university in the U.S. and the second oldest in the state of Ohio.. Miami was recognized in the 1985 book Public Ivies: America's Flagship Undergraduate Colleges as a Public Ivy. In its 2010 edition, U.S. News & World Report ranked the university's undergraduate program 77th among national universities.
