The population within the borough limits was 9,614 at the 2000 census. When combined with the surrounding Washington, and Quincy Townships the population of the greater Waynesboro area is 27,019. The Waynesboro Area School District serves a resident population of 28,376 according to 2000 federal census data . The Waynesboro Area Senior High School has approximately 1,383 students . Waynesboro is in the Cumberland Valley between Hagerstown, Maryland and Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. It is close to Camp David and Raven Rock Mountain Complex.
